Manhole for Popes. On the floor of St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican. One of the most lavish ones I’ve seen. Of course, if you’ve got some kind of a mandate from heaven, it only makes sense that your manhole is golden. This leads to the Pope’s tombs underneath the glorious basilica.
Piazza San Pietro, Vaticano. Not a manhole but floor art. This is the spot that you stand on and see just one layer of columns instead of four at the perimeter of the piazza. Engineering wonder. Salut to Bernini.
